Dating from the 19th Century, Simondie is full of character, with traditional decor and antique, regional-style furniture.  It is set in extensive, well-tended gardens, adorned with colourful shrubs and an abundance of flowers. It is in a very peaceful spot with beautiful views over the surrounding countryside, whilst being just 5km from the lively town of Bergerac and 10km from Bergerac airport.  Historic Bergerac has an excellent choice of shops plus a wide range of restaurants and a busy market on Wednesday and Saturday mornings.

The house is also perfectly situated for visiting local vineyards and tasting the Bergerac and Monbazillac wines, or for visiting the numerous châteaux and prehistoric caves in the area. Alternatively one may choose to stroll around one of the quaint medieval villages with winding streets and corner cafés where one can just sit back and enjoy a refreshingly different pace of life.   From here it is even possible to drive to the Atlantic coast, for a day at the seaside.

There are numerous sporting activities in the area, from gently meandering down the rivers in canoes, exploring the vast forests on horseback or mountain bikes, to playing golf or tennis. Whatever your choice there is sure to be something to entertain the whole family!

Simondie provides comfortable and spacious accommodation for 6 adults and 2 children (1 double room, 1 double room with two single beds, and one twin room) plus two baby cots are available if required. The property is decorated with care and attention to detail, with classical furnishings and paintings. The overall ambiance of the property is welcoming and relaxing.

Arriving in the pretty entrance hall, guests will find to the right the fully fitted kitchen. Facilities include an electric hob, oven, microwave, coffee machine, dish-washer, fridge and all modern equipment for preparing the local gourmet specialities!  To the far end of the kitchen is a large utility room with two washing machines, a tumble dryer, a freezer and plenty of storage space. A separate WC is located in the hallway.  A corridor leads to two pretty bedrooms. The first bedroom on the left has one double bed and large French doors opening out to the garden. Shutters allow for lazy summer mornings and then, when opened, allow the sun to flood in.  Guests may take breakfast outside in the shade of the mature ornamental trees.

The second bedroom is slightly larger and contains one double bed, one single bed and a pull-out bed. This bedroom also opens into the gardens via French doors. A cot is available upon request. The first bathroom is located next to the bedrooms, consisting of a bath with shower attachment, a double wash basin, a large mirror, spotlights and a toilet.

The third bedroom is situated on the first floor and is equipped with two single beds.   The second bathroom, equipped as the first one, is set at the top of the pretty staircase as well as a second separate toilet.

The delightful sitting room has a black and white tiled floor, a decorative fireplace, comfortable settees, arm chairs and large picture windows looking out over the gardens. There are two satellite televisions with French, English and German channels, internet (WIFI) access, a DVD player and a small hi-fi for guests' entertainment. The adjacent dining room comfortably seats six.

The hallway then leads to the back gardens and terrace, with garden furniture and an electric barbecue for enjoying meals in the open air on warm summer evenings. A ping-pong table is also located on site for outdoor entertainment.

The private swimming pool measures 10m x 5m and is between 1m and 1.5m in depth. Fully fenced with a security gate for the safety of children, the pool is surrounded by a sunny patio with sun beds.  Shrubs ensure privacy and mature rosebeds enhance the countryside view.

The private grounds extend over 2.5 hectares, with a combination of meadows and woods.  They are maintained by the caretakers who live on the land but are totally independent from the Simondie house. Pathways have been created through the woodland to allow guests to explore and discover the wide variety of flora and fauna during early morning or evening walks.
